Ballarat (City) 14 Jun 2019

The City of Ballarat will provide $10,000 in Tourism Event Grant funding to the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport for the Australian Rally Championship: Eureka Rush event.

Planned for August 24 and 25, the Eureka Rush is one of six rally events that make up the nationally recognised Australian Rally Championship.

It is expected the event will attract about 9000 people, including 4500 locals and 4500 visitors.

This year, it is proposed to run a new competition sprint during the day and the Super Special Stage in the evening, showcasing Australian Rally Championship and Victorian Rally Championship vehicles.

The Super Special stage allows patrons to view a large proportion of a full stage from a designated area.

Eureka Rush event organisers have indicated they wish to continue the event in the City of Ballarat over future years as they believe this region offers the best amenity, infrastructure and proximity to forests for competition.

In line with the 10-year Events Strategy, the City of Ballarat Events Unit will work with Eureka Rally organisers to ensure the economic benefits arising from such an influx of visitors will flow through to local accommodation and hospitality providers.

The Confederation of Australian Motor Sports also acknowledges a Victorian event is key to the Australian Rally Championship.
