Open Air Fire Ban 4 June to 7 June 2019

Published on 05 June 2019

Open Air Fire Ban in place from 6.00pm 4 June to 8.00am 7 June 2019.

Please be advised the City of Busselton has hereby prohibited the lighting of any fire in the open air and directs all owners or occupiers of land to extinguish any fire burning on the land from 1800hrs on TUESDAY 4th June 2019 until 0800hrs on FRIDAY 7th June 2019, inclusive, for the Whole of the City of Busselton as per the BUSH FIRES ACT 1954, SECTION 46 (1A).

This decision has been made due to very little rainfall being received, current dryness of natural vegetation, a number of escaped private burns and the strong forecasted winds before the cold front anticipated later this week.

The City encourages all that have had a fire in the last 3 weeks to thoroughly inspect, wet down and monitor the burn areas each day this week, prior to the rains being received.

If you believe that a fire may be out of control, we urge you to call '000' very early to allow fire fighters to attend and assist.

For any further enquires regarding this ban, please contact the City's Ranger and Emergency Services on 08 9781 0444. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your community safe.
