On the 30 May 2019 the East Arnhem Regional Council President, Kaye Thurlow, alongside the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, A/Regional Manager of the National Indigenous Australian Agency and board members from; Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation, Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation, Arnhem Land Progress Association and ARDS Aboriginal Corporation, signed and entered into the Yolngu Region Local Decision Making Partnership Agreement.

Since the signing of the agreement, East Arnhem Regional Council, understanding the importance of Local Decision Making, has actively participated at meetings and had a voice at the table, ensuring attendance through the President, elected Councillors, the CEO and Director representation

The partnership agreement is seen as an important step for Local Decision Making in the Yolngu region, and complements the local decision making work that East Arnhem Regional Council undertakes through its support of Local Authorities and other local initiatives, including the “Have your Say” boxes.
