The program for Devonport Jazz 2019 will be released tomorrow to coincide with International Jazz Day on 30 April.

To be held from 25-28 July, this year’s Festival will be headline by the great multi-instrumentalist James Morrison and is brimming with acts from Tasmania and the mainland, which will please both jazz lovers and the general public.

Other exciting elements of the Festival include the Squeezebox Cabaret (complete with a meal, dance troupe and big band), sensational traditional band The Syncopators, the RAN Jazz Ensemble Melbourne, the ABC Radio live broadcast, a schools’ tour, Pure Jazz Sessions and a jazzy INXS tribute.

The paranaple precinct will be showcased with events planned in the Town Hall, paranaple convention centre, Market Square, Aberdeen Room and Providore Place, as well as venues across the City and beyond.

Of the 35 public events, there will be three in East Devonport (East Devonport Child & Family Centre, Café Squire, Mersey Yacht Club and one each in Port Sorell (Rubicon Grove), Forth (Bridge Hotel) and Ulverstone (The Wharf).

The remaining events will be close to Devonport’s CBD.

New venues this year include the Devonport Hockey Club at Meercroft Park, Café Squire, and the Devonport RSL, who are returning to the program after a lengthy recess.

Devonport Mayor Councillor Annette Rockliff said the program had broad appeal.

“It does not matter what you are interested in – a big band sound, a dinner and show, brunch or a traditional concert, there really is something for everyone,” she said.

``The Festival will once again transform venues through winter, and I expect it to attract several thousand people to the city over the four days.’’

The program can be viewed at www.devonportjazz.com with hard copies being delivered to venues and local outlets in the coming weeks.

Tickets can be purchased through www.devonportjazz.com.au or at participating venues.
