Eggcitement is building at Armidale Regional Council libraries, as they prepare for a fortnight of free school holiday activities from this Monday.

Activities for children of all ages will begin with an Easter crafts session at the Armidale Regional War Memorial Library on 15 April at 10am to 3pm. Participants will get to create vintage egg baskets, bunny ears, decorated eggs and other Easter related paper crafts.

Both the Armidale and Guyra libraries will host Once Upon a Brick, giving kids the chance to tell stories through Lego bricks. Kids will work in small groups to build brick worlds, with different types of Lego to suit children of all ages.

Once Upon a Brick will be held at the Armidale library on Tuesday 16 April from 10am to 11.30am, and the Guyra library on Thursday 18 April from 10am, including Duplo and a motorised K’NEX Mario Kart track.

Illustrator Danny Stanley is a regular and popular part of the Armidale library’s school holiday events and he returns with a comic book session on the Tuesday afternoon. Children aged eight and over can design and create their own mini comic books between 2pm and 4.30pm.

Alternatively, head to the Guyra library that afternoon and design squishy Play-Doh creations from 2pm to 3pm.

Learn how to make woollen pompoms, when two sessions are held at the Armidale library on Wednesday 17 April. Two sessions will be held, from 10am to 11.30 to 2pm to 3.30pm, for kids of all ages.

Also on 17 April, children aged eight and over can take a plain t-shirt to the Guyra library from 11am and experience tie-dying using sharpies.

Mountains of Lego will be available for free play session at the two libraries on Tuesday 23 April, for a full day at the Armidale library from 10am and at the Guyra library from 10am to noon.

Explore the coastal feeling with a creative sand art session at the Guyra library on Wednesday 24 April from 11am.
