Arthur Highway Overtaking Lane
Sorell Council 12 Apr 2019
A message from State Growth about the Arthur Highway Overtaking Lane Project:

The Tasmanian Government has committed to the Arthur Highway Overtaking Lane project as a part of the South East Traffic Solution.

This project will improve safety on the highway. It will reduce delays and driver frustration by increasing overtaking opportunities.

About the project

The Department has finished a design plan for the project.

During this project we will build:

one kilometre southeast bound overtaking lane. Separate turn lanes for the Valleyfield Road and Schofield Drive junctions. Safer school bus stop locations and U-turn facilities in Valleyfield Road and Schofield Drive.

The U-turn and safe bus stop locations will be a safe place for buses to pick up and drop off passengers. They will help us meet the current and future needs of the community.

Have your say

We want you to tell us what you think about the project.

You can give us your ideas, suggestions and feedback on our interactive map.

You can stop by the community drop-in session at Sorell:

When: Tuesday 16 April 5:30 pm – 7.30 pm

Where: CWA Meeting Room at Sorell Memorial Hall, Cole Street Sorell

The plans will also be on display in the foyer of the Sorell Council Building, 47 Cole Street, Sorell from 17 April.

Local landowners and residents along the project site have been invited to a separate drop-in session on 16 April. This session will help address their specific questions, and will be held from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm Tuesday 16 April, at Sorell Memorial Hall.

The consultation period will close on Friday 3 May.
