The Nan Manefield Young Writers Award is a writing prize overseen by The Stanton Library and North Sydney Council.

Young people, aged between 11 and 18 years, are invited to submit either a poem or short story of up to 750 words.

The competition is judged in five age categories by a panel of professional writers and has prizes totaling over $2,000.

All winners will also be offered the opportunity to attend a special writers masterclass.

Entries close 5pm Friday 12 April 2019. Winners will be announced at the awards night on Wednesday 15 May. Conditions of entry

* Entrants must be aged 11-18 years inclusive on 12 April 2019.

* Each entry must be an original work and must be accompanied by an entry form .

* There is a limit of one entry per person. Either a poem or a short story (of not more than 750 words) may be submitted.

* Posted entries: Each entry must be typed or in neat legible black handwriting on A4 paper, and include the completed entry form. Post to: Young Writer’s Award, Stanton Library, Locked bag 916, North Sydney, NSW, 2059.

* Email entries: Please include all entry form information requested below, and your writing as PDF or Word doc, in your email to [email protected]

* Online entries can be submitted

* Stanton Library is authorised to display any entries and to publish all or part of an entry.

* Stanton Library must receive each entry no later than 5pm on Friday 12 April 2019.

* The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
