Council is very pleased at the recent announcement confirming that the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club has been successful in securing Federal Government funding to rebuild the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Clubhouse under round three of the Building Better Regions Fund.

Federal Member for Corangamite, the Honourable Sarah Henderson MP, announced the funding for the new clubhouse at the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club on Sunday 3 March 2019. This Federal Government funding will support ongoing training and development and community activities.

Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor, Cr Bob Merriman, was delighted to be able to share the news with the community.

“Council thanks The Hon Sarah Henderson MP in particular for making this happen and congratulates the hardworking team at Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club on writing a successful application.”

“The $650,000 funding provided by the Federal Government acknowledges the value of Surf Life Saving within the local community. By rebuilding the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Clubhouse, club members and the broader community will enjoy improved facilities and the opportunity to develop a stronger social environment within the new clubhouse,” said Cr Merriman.

The Federal Government also provided the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club with an additional $10,000 funding under the Stronger Communities Program.
