World champion surfer Kelly Slater will be back at Manly Beach in March to compete in the 2019 Vissla Sydney Surf Pro competition.

Northern Beaches Council is a proud supporter of Vissla and is delighted to see the 11-time World Surfing League (WSL) winner back competing in the championship.

Kelly Slater’s presence is sure to draw even larger crowds to the world-class, iconic beach.

Manly is loved by locals and is a must-visit location for international tourists.

Council has a proud history of supporting surfing events dating back to the turn of last century when the first known body surfing contest was held in 1908.

Events like this are the perfect opportunity for locals and visits to experience all that the Northern Beaches has to offer and Council encourages everyone to check out the many activities on offer during the event.

The 2019 Vissla Sydney Surf Pro competition is the second main qualifying event of the World Surfing League (WSL) season. It plays a key role for competitors wanting to qualify for the elite Championship tour.

Kelly Slater, who has dominated this championship for two decades, is no stranger to the Northern Beaches. He lived part-time in Avalon for 15 years and says he is looking forward to coming back.
