It has been a week of exciting announcements for the Snowy Monaro region with a number of projects set to become a reality.

On Friday, I joined the Deputy Premier and local member John Barilaro, Member of the Legislative Council Bronnie Taylor, and fellow Councillors for announcements in Cooma and Jindabyne.

We know the important role community groups play in our region, and now there will be a new space for groups in Cooma to call home. $200,000 has been allocated to build a community hall in Cooma. This will be a valuable space for groups needing a permanent home.

We will endeavour to create a community precinct that will be used by a range of groups. In Cooma, and across the Snowy Monaro, there are many wonderful community organisations who contribute to the social fabric of our region.

Another important space for people to gather is a library. Bombala and Cooma boast wonderful library facilities, and now Jindabyne will have a library of its own. $3million will go towards building this facility at Jindabyne Central School. It will become a joint-use facility of school users and the public.

Council will partner with School Infrastructure NSW to deliver this facility which will include library space, a presentation area and meeting rooms. Jindabyne is a vibrant town, and I’m excited for locals that this funding has been secured.

The Berridale town centre will be revitalised through $588,525 from the Regional Communities Development Fund. Berridale is one of the fastest growing towns in the Snowy Monaro.

Each year, more than one million people pass through Berridale and an enhanced CBD area will encourage more people to stop in town. This will boost Berridale’s and the region’s economy.

Congratulations to the Nimmitabel Show committee on staging another fantastic show. The Nimmitabel Show was the first of the locals shows in the Snowy Monaro, and what a way to start.

There was plenty of activities for all the family, and the pavilion was home to a fantastic range of exhibits.
