Planned resurfacing works on Daniels street in Emerald will improve safety on the access road to the industrial area thanks to $100,000 from the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery funding.

Works will commence on 23 February 2019 to resurface a section of Daniels street with a layer of asphalt to improve the road surface condition and drainage.

Central Highlands Regional Council Mayor Kerry Hayes said the works will provide better access to the many businesses in the area and improve road user safety.

‘Daniels street is consistently used by heavy and light vehicle traffic accessing a number of businesses, including the Emerald Saleyards and waste transfer station,’ Mayor Hayes said.

‘Thanks to the works funded by the Australian Government Roads to Recovery program, safety and accessibility will be improved for people travelling along this section of road to go to work, accessing one of the many businesses as customers or delivering stock.’

To minimise disruptions, council scheduled the works outside of normal business hours. Daniels street will remain closed from Saturday 23 February onwards through to the completion of works on Sunday 24 February 2018. Alternative access to the area will be via Beezley street.

Electronic message boards will be on site to advise of the closure ahead of the works and council has given notice to those directly affected by the works.
