Toowoomba Regional Council will temporarily close Post Office Road between Ravensbourne School Road and Mcerlean Road in the week commencing Monday, February 11, 2019 as part of culvert upgrade works. The project is due for completion in June 2019 (weather permitting).

Toowoomba Regional Council Chair of Infrastructure Committee, Cr Carol Taylor said the $708,500 upgrade project involves replacing the existing steel culvert with a concrete culvert.

“The new structure will improve flood immunity, safety for all road users and ensure continued access for the local community.

“Council is grateful for the 50% funding that has been provided through Australian Government’s Bridge Renewal Program to upgrade the culvert.

Cr Taylor said that during the construction period, traffic management and detours would be in place for the safety of crews and motorists.

“Council asks the community to please drive to conditions and be aware that temporary changes to traffic flow will occur.

“Construction work will take place generally between the hours of 6.00am – 6.00pm on weekdays.

“There may be a requirement to undertake some weekend and night works. Council will seek to minimise disruptions where possible,” Cr Taylor said.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during construction.”

The Bridges Renewal Program provides funding to upgrade and replace bridges to enhance access for local communities and facilitate higher productivity vehicle access.
