FIFIELD WATER SUPPLY 18 Jan 2019 3:23 PM -

Dear Residents of Fifield,

As you may be aware, Lachlan Shire Council has been carting water directly to the Fifield town reservoir via water tankers since August 2018 to ensure the people of Fifield continue to have a water supply.

Throughout that period Council have been supplying water from a treated water standpipe in Condobolin.  Residents were advised that this water was to be used as raw water because the treated water passed through a raw water reservoir and pipework before reaching residents. For that reason, Council could not guarantee the drinking quality of the water and encouraged residents to use it only for non-drinking water purposes.

Due to the extreme weather event being experienced the Condobolin Water Treatment Plant cannot currently produce enough water to keep up with demand. From 18 January 2019 Council will be changing the source of water for carting to Fifield to a raw river water standpipe in Condobolin. As such it is important that this water is not used for drinking purposes.

Also, Council reminds residents that the Fifield water supply is for day to day domestic and commercial use in the village of Fifield. It is not to be used for bulk filling of water containers or tankers or for watering stock.

Council requests the people of Fifield to regularly check toilet cisterns and similar valves for leaks, minimise use of water and to comply with level 4 water restrictions. This means not using town water at all for: watering of lawns, watering of gardens using sprinklers (microsprays, drip systems and soaker hoses are allowed at certain times) and no watering of stock or crops. Residents are encouraged to limit the length of time they take for showers (or take baths instead). For further details refer attached table.

Water usage will continue to be monitored and any further changes to the supply of water in Fifield will be advised.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Lachlan Shire Council Infrastructure Services Department on 02 6895 1900.
