Breakfast workshops support local business improvement
Town of Claremont 31 Oct 2018
Local small businesses in the Claremont Town Centre are benefiting from free workshops and masterclasses to advance their businesses as part of a partnership between Town of Claremont and the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC).

The partnership project is a result of the Town’s commitment to the Small Business Friendly Initiative and support of the SBDC’s workshop goals of providing practical information on how to build a successful, profitable and dynamic small business.

Town of Claremont Mayor Jock Barker said the Town would like to ensure it continues to improve the way it interacts with small businesses operating in its community, to ensure that it is offering an attractive location in which to establish and grow a small business.

“The Town of Claremont really values its local small businesses and the many benefits they bring to the community including creating employment opportunities, providing goods and services and building a vibrant economy,” Mayor Barker said.

“The workshops have been designed in response to local business feedback on what teaching courses would best fit their needs.”

“It was great to see that attendees included local community business members that had not previously engaged with our programs.”

The SBDC worked with Claremont Town Centre officers on adjusting the program to allow local business operators to attend the workshops in the locality and outside of business hours, offering a free breakfast for attendees.

Discussions are now underway to explore future workshop opportunities. Other Claremont Town Centre initiatives include activation programs, events, marketing and promotion campaigns, small business grant opportunities, website and social media development.
