After months of upgrades and over $500,000 worth of improvements, the City of Canada Bay will re-open Drummoyne and Cabarita swimming centres for the spring/summer season on Saturday, 1 September. “Our aquatic facilities are some of the most picturesque in Sydney, featuring heated salt water pools with panoramic harbour views, shaded children’s pools, cafés and kiosks,” City of Canada Bay Angelo Tsirekas said. After an off-season of maintenance work at both locations, the facilities are now ready for swimmers to dip their toes into the newly refilled pools. This season Drummoyne Swimming Centre boasts new diving blocks and fully refurbished change rooms, toilets and parents room. Visitors can enjoy upgrades to the tiling, partitioning, vanities, timber seating and plumbing fixtures. New LED lighting has been installed along with new hand dryers, fresh rendering on external brickwork and new fence panelling. At Cabarita residents can expect upgrades to the concourse, new bubblers and a facelift to the grandstand. Both Cabarita and Drummoyne swimming centres hold iconic positions in the City of Canada Bay’s rich history. Drummoyne stands as one of the oldest Council pools in Sydney with a permanent structure first erected in 1904. Cabarita pool has celebrated its 80th birthday and also remains a popular public facility that has serviced generations of locals.  Drummoyne Swimming Centre operates seven days a week from 5.30am on weekdays and 6am on weekends. It is located along the Bay Run at 1P Henley Marine Drive, Drummoyne. For more information please visit: drummoyneswimmingcentre.com.au.
