Fashion first for Sydney retailers

Australia's biggest evening shopping experience will now last all day and night and involve more than 670 retailers across the City of Sydney.

Vogue American Express Fashion's Night Out will feature beauty bars, pop-up stores, fashion parades, in-store offers, window displays and celebrity guest appearances throughout the CBD on Thursday 6 September.

The event, which is also hosted in 14 cities around the world, will run throughout the day and into the evening from 10am to 10pm for the first time, extending opportunities for shoppers and maximising benefits for retailers.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the City has been a supporter of the fashion event since it first started in Sydney in 2010.

"Vogue American Express Fashion's Night Out is one of my favourite events each year, it's a true celebration of fashion and style right in the heart of our city," the Lord Mayor said.

"We've watched it grow into one of the most important events on the retail calendar - maintaining Sydney's reputation as a global destination for fashion, and boosting the local economy.

"It brings more than 200,000 people to our city, and more than $30 million of economic benefits to our retail sector.

"There's so much to see and enjoy so I encourage everyone to take part and support our local retailers."

Activities will take place in Pitt Street Mall, Westfield, QVB and Strand shopping arcades, as well as in the stores around the centre.

Vogue American Express Fashion's Night Out is the second of the City's two major annual fashion events this year. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) in May featured 50 shows and brought more than 30,000 national and international fashion experts, reviewers, buyers and consumers to Sydney.

The publicity for Australia's homegrown designers from the combined Vogue American Express Fashion's Night Out and MBFWA events is worth more than $130 million.
