Fire ban will in place over Easter

Posted 20 March 2018.

The Riverland and Murraylands Fire Danger Season will still be in place this Easter long weekend and camp fires will not be permitted in all Riverland or Murrayland Parks. Gas fires are permitted, however the community are being asked to take extra care when using gas fires in designated areas in National Parks.

Natural Resources SA Murray-Darling Basin Fire Management Officer Jared Pippos said Easter is one of our busiest times and we would like to remind park users that wood fires are not permitted in parks until after the fire danger season ends on 15 April 2018.

“This also means, that if a day of total fire ban day is declared by the Country Fire Service (CFS) all  fires, including liquid fuel and gas appliances are not permitted in parks,“ Mr Pippos said.

“People are advised to check and monitor the Bureau of Meteorology website and CFS website for weather forecasts and warnings.

Mr Pippos is reminding children that they need to leave fallen branches and logs for the Easter Bilby to hide in. Wildlife need this for shelter and a food source
