Nominate someone great!!

Sorell Council’s Australia Day Awards are now open!

 These Awards are the highest honour Council can bestow on an individual or group for outstanding contributions to their local community.

 Award categories are:

Citizen of the Year Young Citizen of the Year (27 years and under) Community Group of the Year Community Event of the Year

We have many people living in our community doing wonderful things, but we can only recognise them if you nominate them! We encourage you to nominate any individual, group or event you know who has achieved something special in the past twelve months or who makes an ongoing contribution to our community.

 Nominations close at 5.00pm on Monday 14 January 2019.

The Australia Day Awards will be presented at a special presentation event at the Sorell Memorial Hall in January, date TBC.

 2018 Citizen of the Year – Marsha Batchelor

 Marsha has been involved with many community groups over the years including Sorell Cricket Club, Sorell Play group, Sorell School Parents and Friends and after school and ladies social netball. She is an active and committed member of South East Little Athletics of which she was awarded Life Membership in 2013. Marsha founded the South East Netball Association (SENA) in 2014 and has been the President since its inception. SENA has grown from 8 teams in its first year to 21 teams with over 500 current members.
