Northern Ward Councillor Keith Mills has today resigned his position on Wellington Shire Council.

Council Mayor Carolyn Crossley said she reluctantly accepted Cr Mills’ resignation, citing a change to his personal circumstances, which are private.

“I have sadly accepted Cr Mills’ resignation and understand how this was a difficult decision for him,” Mayor Crossley said.

“Being a Councillor takes a lot of time and that can sometimes be difficult when you are trying to juggle family commitments and other issues.

“I want to thank Cr Mills for his 12 months service to the Council and wish him all the best for the future.”

Cr Keith Mills said the decision hadn’t been an easy one.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have made this difficult decision, due to personal reasons,” he said.

“I will continue to advocate for the rural sector and will actively remain involved in issues as they unfold.

“I would like to thank the Mayor and my fellow Councillors for their support during the past year and also very importantly those members of the public who supported me to become elected onto the Council.”
